"I'm just a boy with a new haircut"/And that's a pretty nice haircut

Out with the old, in with the new haircut. The Public Image Ltd. shirt isn't quite so fresh (in any sense of the word), purchased straight from Johnny Rotten and co. during their late spring/early summer (reunion?) tour. It was quite a show. The old man still has it going on, that's for sure. At one point good ole JR (JL?), certainly echoing many of the crowd's concerns, asked "where are all the lesbians?" The question is made stranger by the fact that he thought he was playing in Connecticut rather than Northampton, MA.

Speaking of concerts, I am rather looking forward to seeing the Arcade Fire play Boston this Sunday, 8/1. While maybe not the best band of "my generation," they are certainly one of the most willing to aim maximalist. As a progeny of Uncle Walt (as opposed to dear Aunt Emily) who hopes to meet his intended audience with bazooka in hand, I respect them all the more for it. It helps that they have some killer songs to back it up. And they're Canadian, so what's not to love?

Another happening going on in Boston this weekend that deserves excitement is the Boston Poet Tea Party! Check out the link for a full schedule, cause this thing is going to be epic-- eight minutes per poet, but epic nonetheless. Since Whole Foods Market owns a lion's share of my time right now, I can't say I'll be able to attend many of the readings. Still, I'm trying to make it out for some of Sunday's festivities pre-AF show. Particular Sunday poets of interest include Ana Božičević, Janaka Stucky, and Boston Poet Tea Party organizer, Jim Behrle. Friday and Saturday lineups are likewise off the chains.
